As can be seen from the first chart, the values of both exported andimported goodswitnessed increasing trends,with the latter rising at a much rapider rate.

再说具体变化

During the six years, the revenue from exportgrewgradually from about 500 billion dollars to just under 1000 billiondollars. And theexpenditure of importrose slightly from700 billion to 900 billion in 2000, before soaring to almost3000 billion in 2004.

按升降分类，抓住主要特征

It is noticeable from the second chart that thespending of almost all the types of imported goods listed experienced growth to varying degrees except clotheswhose figures maintained the same at 4 billion dollars in both years.

The money usedto importtoys/ sports equipment and telecommunication equipment almosttripled and thatspent on computers and furniture both went up moderatelyfrom 5 to 6 billion.

Overall, Australia tended to rely more on importinggoods from China and China-made toys/ sports equipment and telecommunicationequipment gained in more popularity than the other products.

As a result, the extra-curricularknowledge from television viewing may afford them an advantage to out-standtheir peers in various kinds of competitions about different subjectsthey would face at school.

However, the benefit to children is quite limited, asmuch more knowledge could be acquired from extensivereading after school.
